- The capital of Kansas is Topeka, with the largest city in the state being Wichita.
- Kansas is named after the Kansas River, which in turn was named after the Kansa Native Americans who lived along its banks.
- For thousands of years, what is now Kansas was home to numerous and diverse Native American tribes.
- One of the most famous references to Kansas is made in the Wizzard of Oz, with the main character Dorothy, calling Kansas her home.
- Wichita is the main city in the State of Kansas and has great historical and cultural experiences that can be experienced throughout the year.

WHAT IS KANSAS FAMOUS FOR?
Kansas is appropriately nicknamed the Sunflower State. With more than 20 designated wildflower trails, you can find these lovely blooms all over the state, in both rural and urban areas. One of the most popular places to see sunflowers is at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, where you can also see bison and other wildlife.
