The official state motto is the simple and powerfully positive word “FORWARD,” adopted in 1851. The motto is seen on the state seal and flag, and also on the U.S. Mint’s commemorative quarter for Wisconsin.

  • Wisconsin is a state in the upper Midwestern United States. Wisconsin is divided into 72 counties and as of the 2020 census had a population of nearly 5.9 million. With a surface area of around 65,497.82 square miles, it is a relatively large state with a population to match — it is the 23rd biggest state in the country,

    Wisconsin shares borders with Minnesota to the west, Iowa to the southwest, Illinois to the south, Lake Michigan to the east, Michigan to the northeast, and Lake Superior to the north.

  • Wisconsin is also a leading producer of potatoes. Other commodities that the state highly produces are corn, soybeans, cranberries, chicken eggs and hay. Reports show that there are a total of 68,700 farms dedicated to the growth of these and many other crops.
  • Wisconsin has more than 122 million cattle, hogs, and broilers. Of these, hogs comprise the majority.
  • The Agricultural industry contributes more than $104.8 billion to the state economy. This is a combination of on-farm production, dairy farming, food processing, and exports. 11% of employment opportunities are from this sector and other fields involved in agriculture such as Science, Business, Engineering, and Business.

What is Wisconsin famous for?

The waterpark capital of the world, as it’s been called, is Wisconsin Dells. Sitting on the Wisconsin River, it features more than 20 indoor and outdoor waterparks. This gorgeous area of cliffs, canyons, and rivers has been a tourist destination since the 1850s. The dells are especially popular in the summer when people come from all over to cool off in the waterparks dotting the landscape.

Wisconsin is represented by major league teams in the three most popular spectator sports in the United States: American football, baseball, and basketball. The Green Bay Packers have been part of the National Football League since the league’s second season in 1921 and currently hold the record for the most NFL titles, earning the city of Green Bay the nickname “Titletown”.

What is cool about Wisconsin

Cave of the Mounds is a National Natural Landmark that’s located in southern Wisconsin. This natural cave is known for its beautiful crystals, formations, and fossils. The cave was discovered in 1939 by workers who were looking for a place to mine limestone. Today, it’s open to the public, and you can take a guided tour to explore this natural beauty.
